Plastering

We undertake all types of plasterwork including plasterboarding, skimming, restoration and repairs. Whether it is for domestic or commercial you can be sure of a professional job from JB Plastering Ltd.

Also known as wall panels, plasterboard is commonly used in the construction of partitions, walls and ceilings. Skimming plasterboard provides a surface that is ready to be painted or wallpapered. Skimming is also known as top coat. Alternatively plaster can be applied directly on to brick/block work this is known as Float and Set; a traditional style of plastering also known as wet plastering which is a two coat system - undercoat and top coat.

Decorative mouldings including coving and cornices can be incorporated into any room to add that look of elegance. These are available in a range of styles including plain, Edwardian and Victorian.

Restoration and repairs to existing plaster will give a smooth surface prior to redecorating to ensure the ultimate end result and finish.

Traditional Sand & Cement Rendering

Render is applied to external walls and provides a strong, waterproof surface.

Whether you are building a new property or want to improve the appearance of an existing building, JB Plastering Ltd can provide you with the rendering you need. From traditional cement and sand rendering to the more modern through colour renders and insulated render systems there are a number of options to choose from.

Different finishes can be created by using different tools such as trowels, sponges, or brushes. The art in traditional rendering is, (apart from getting the mix right), the appearance of the top coat and correct preparation of the surface. JB Plastering Ltd applies a stainless steel metal lath (mesh) to the surfaces prior to rendering which acts as a key for the render, prevents cracking and maximises the life of the finish.
